    Good to know

Each image is saved as a high-quality JPG (quality 90) at full size. JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas -- for example around a logo -- become white. Photos usually shrink a lot as JPG, but screenshots, logos and pages of text can come out larger and slightly less sharp, because JPG is designed for photos. 16-bit PNGs are converted to standard 8-bit JPGs. Location (GPS) details are removed if the PNG has any.

    When you'd use this

    • Making a photo saved as PNG small enough to email or upload.
    • Uploading an image to a form or website that only accepts JPG.
    • Turning PNG photos or screenshots into JPGs for an online album or print order that asks for JPG.

    Privacy & security

Your file is used only to perform this conversion, in an isolated temporary workspace, and is deleted automatically as soon as the converted file is returned to you (or immediately if the conversion fails). See our Privacy notice for details.

    Frequently asked questions

Will my PNG get smaller as a JPG?

Usually, if it's a photo -- JPG is built for photos and can make them several times smaller. Screenshots, logos and text pages may not shrink and can even grow, because JPG struggles with sharp edges. We don't promise a particular file size.

What happens to a transparent background?

It becomes white, because JPG doesn't support transparency. Keep the PNG if you need the see-through background.

    Is there any quality loss?

Very little on photos: images are saved at quality 90, where the difference is hard to see. Sharp text and thin lines can look slightly softer, as with any JPG.

How many PNG files can I convert at once?

Up to 20 at a time, with a combined upload of up to 50 MB. Several images download together in one ZIP file.

Can I change PNG to JPG on my phone?

Yes -- open this page in your phone's browser, choose your PNG images and download the JPGs. There's no app to install and no sign-up.
