    Good to know

Each photo is saved as a high-quality JPG (quality 90) at full size, turned the right way up, with its colour profile kept so colours look the same. The JPG is usually larger than the HEIC file -- HEIC stores photos more compactly, which is why iPhones use it. Location (GPS) details are removed from the JPG; the date and time taken and the camera make and model are kept. If a HEIC file holds several images, such as a burst, the main image is converted, and a Live Photo becomes a still photo. Photos up to 65 megapixels are supported.

    When you'd use this

    • Opening iPhone photos on a Windows PC or an older computer that can't display HEIC files.
    • Uploading photos to a website, online form or job portal that only accepts JPG.
    • Sending pictures to friends, family or colleagues whose devices don't open HEIC.

    Privacy & security

Your file is used only to perform this conversion, in an isolated temporary workspace, and is deleted automatically as soon as the converted file is returned to you (or immediately if the conversion fails). See our Privacy notice for details.

    Frequently asked questions

    What is a HEIC file?

HEIC is the photo format iPhones and iPads use by default (since iOS 11). It's a type of HEIF image that stores photos in less space than JPG, but many Windows PCs, older phones and websites can't open it -- converting to JPG solves that.

Can I convert HEIC to JPG on Windows without installing anything?

Yes -- open this page in your browser, add your HEIC photos and download the JPGs. Nothing is installed on your PC and there's no sign-up.

How many photos can I convert at once?

Up to 20 photos at a time, with a combined upload of up to 50 MB. One photo downloads as a JPG; several download together in one ZIP file.

    Is the photo's location removed?

Yes. GPS location details are removed from the JPG, so you can share it without revealing where it was taken. The date and time taken and the camera make and model are kept.

Will the JPG look the same as the HEIC photo?

Yes on screen: it's saved at quality 90 and full size, with the photo's colour profile kept. Two differences: the JPG file is usually larger, and the extra HDR brightness some newer iPhone photos have isn't carried into the JPG.
