Frequently asked questions
Is KuickKonvert's PDF converter free?
Yes. Every tool on this site is free to use, with no sign-up, up to a 50MB file size limit per upload (all files together). There's no paid tier -- the site may show ads in the future to help cover hosting costs, but the conversion tools themselves stay free.
Do you store my files?
No. Your file is used only to perform the conversion you requested, in an isolated temporary workspace, and is automatically deleted as soon as the converted file is returned to you (or immediately if the conversion fails). See our Privacy notice for details.
What's the difference between DOC and DOCX, XLS and XLSX, or PPT and PPTX?
DOC, XLS, and PPT are Microsoft's older binary Office formats, used before Office 2007. DOCX, XLSX, and PPTX are the newer XML-based Office Open XML formats introduced with Office 2007 and used ever since. KuickKonvert accepts both the old and new format for each tool, so you don't need to worry about which one you have.
Why does my file's layout sometimes shift slightly after conversion?
Two common reasons. First, fonts: if your file uses a font we don't have installed, we substitute another one. Calibri, Cambria, Arial, Times New Roman and Courier New are replaced by metric-compatible fonts with the same letter widths, so line breaks stay the same; other fonts -- including Aptos, Word's newer default -- are replaced by fonts with different widths, so text can rewrap. Second, PDF is a fixed-page format, while Word and PowerPoint are flowing formats -- converting between them is a best-effort reconstruction, not a perfect one-to-one mapping, especially for complex layouts, bulleted lists, or unusual page sizes.
Is there a file size limit?
Yes -- up to 50MB per upload (all files together), which comfortably covers the vast majority of everyday documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. Bigger files can't be uploaded; for a very large PDF, save a smaller copy from the program that created it and convert that instead.
Do I need to install anything or create an account?
No. You use KuickKonvert directly from your browser -- no software installation, plugins, browser extensions, or sign-up required. It works the same way on desktop, tablet, or mobile, in any modern browser.
